BLK 020 Monochrome Batik Fabric

Monochrome Batik refers to any batik fabric done in black and white colours.

The Yoruba tribe calls batik dyeing Adire Alabela, which means wax resist. The wax can be applied to the fabric using wood stamps, stencils, or foam rubber. Adire Alabela production started in the 1960s. Its dye resist is candle wax melting to liquid on fire.

We create our Adire Alabela by using foam pencil to draw designs or by using a foam stamp to place designs on the fabric.
